====== Gift Cards ======

The Gift Cards feature allows you to create vouchers that people can use to pay for goods.  The gift cards can be set up for single-use or multiple uses, and the remaining balance will be remembered after each use.

===== Setting up the Site =====

  * fill in a name for the gift card code box on the 'ordering setup' screen
  * tick 'allow zero value orders' on the 'ordering setup' screen
  * create a product in your in-house system with the product code 'GIFTCARD' (or use a different code, but be sure to have a column in your CSV upload file which specifies the alternative code!  You can use different codes for each gift card if you like)
  * ensure that your in-house system will not apply any tax to the gift card product(s)

===== Uploading the Gift Cards =====

Follow the instructions on the 'Gift Card Upload' screen.  You can then view your gift cards on the 'offers and extras' screen.

===== Tax and Gift Cards =====

If you are using tax on your site, and the customer pays using a gift card, it is possible the subtotal will be less than zero.  This ensures that taxes can be correctly accounted for by both supplier and customer.  The subtotal plus the tax will make a total of zero.
